Shanghai Yu Yuan

Client: Shanghai Yu Yuan
Hong Kong, China

The historical Yu Yuan Gardens in Shanghai is famous notably famous for having been through various dynasties, from the Ming and Qing to modern Chinese and Western glamour. This can be seen in its architectural and artistic characteristics within the gardens themselves. People would often gather at the gardens for social occasions, celebrating over food, drink, games and dancing.

I was commissioned by Hong Kong based Agency Jam Group to create the brand key visual and a mural for a restaurant Shanghai Yu Yuan. The final visuals have been influenced from the gardens in the 1920’s-1930’s, a time where Western influences had made their way into Shanghai. The style of artwork reflects the simple lines and use of colours that was used in this era too.

The main visuals were adapted to all brand collateral as well as a 12x3 foot wall in the restaurant itself.
